Aviana

Posted by Danny Avila on December 03, 2011

My niece Aviana turned two! I visited San Francisco this weekend for her birthday. I LOVE the bay area. I want to go and visit it again soon and just walk around the city, the architecture and sites there are amazing. We celebrated at an indoor play ground called Hop 'n Play. Pretty awesome place if you're under the age of four. Also I think stock went up in the Dora the Explorer franchise this weekend. She got about twenty items that were of Dora.

Growth Group Olympics

Posted by Danny Avila on October 29, 2011

Twice a year our ministry does a fun event called Growth Group Olympics. Where all the growth group (life groups/small groups) get together and play ridiculous and fun games. It's always a good time and the competitions can get pretty intense at times when your group's reputation is on the line.

Sticky Teams

I attend a church here in Vista called North Coast. This week we hosted a HUGE pastor's conference. Our church was flooded with pastors from all over the world (not just the country). At our church? It's was very cool and super weird, I've been attending this church for over three years now and it blew my mind how many people came to visit us and see how we run things. Among the attender is a very well known pastor and theologian by the name of Mark Driscoll.

Happy Birthday Jake!

Posted by Danny Avila on October 22, 2011

My buddy Jake turned 25 today! His parents had me shoot his party, it was a blast. The theme was Super Heroes and our friends pulled it off well! Tons of fun and just a great celebration of life with many more years to come! Happy Birthday my friend!

The Fishers

My first big wedding! It was a BLAST, I couldn't have asked for a better couple to work with. Renee and Marc are naturals in front of the camera. I was super stressed, lighting was horrible and it all worked out! I'm super stoked on how these pictures turned out. I had my buddy Jeff Vycital help me as a second shooter and we killed it. I'm very stoked to even be a part of this and excited to share these pictures with you.

Mikeython

Posted by Danny Avila on October 06, 2011

An annual radio marathon that goes on for 28 hours strait, no commercials, no music. The Mikey Show on FM94.9 started doing this in 2004 when they moved to San Diego from San Jose and it's been a hit with this listeners ever since. Over the years it's evolved and grown more and more and in 2007 they decided to give it a cause and that cause was Children's hospital, Autism Discover program. They raised over $55,000 in donations and auction items this past year and as you can see from the pictures they pull out all the stops for this thing.

Water Housing

Posted by Danny Avila on September 17, 2011

This past week I made a dream come true. I've had a camera in my hand since I was in middle school and I've always loved the ocean. Back in high school I had an Epic Elite for my video camera, that thing was the sketchiest thing I've EVER used still. It's a plastic cylinder with a clamp around the back the sometimes does and sometimes doesn't keep water out where you can put your camera in. There are countless hours of video and times spent in the waters of La Jolla with that thing. So this week I'd been in contact with this local guy named Chris that runs a company named Jetty Girl. He'd been advertising his water housing on Craig's List forever and I finally took the plunge and bought it. For my first time the images came out great. I can't stop thinking about getting out there and shooting again.

A friend of mine is the pastor of the high school group at Fallbrook Presbyterian Church. Summer is over which means their program starts up again and he asked me to make them this transitional video for their service. A few more are in the works!

Renee + Marc

Posted by Danny Avila on August 23, 2011

My good friends Renee and Marc recently got engaged and gave me the honor of letting me shoot their engagement photos which I was super stoked about. We spend the afternoon in the Harbor just walking up and down and having fun on the beach and in the water a little. I can't express how much fun it was to be able to shoot these two. I'm super pumped to shoot their wedding on October 15th 2011! :)

Summer Camp

Posted by Danny Avila on June 28, 2011

I survived! So I spent the last week with my students at FUSION summer camp on the San Joaquin Delta River. It was an amazing week of house boats, tricks and flips, exploring through swamps, fishing, giant sugar rushes from eating brownie mix followed by dance parties. Then to camping, hunting wild turkey, Dr. Seuss, cold rivers and in the middle of it Jesus, God working in the lives of our kids and seeing Him all throughout the week. It’ll be a week I’ll never forget for a LONG time.

Endoxi

Posted by Danny Avila on March 26, 2010

"Lovers of Endoxi"! I know I am. Whoa do these guys put on a show. I was privileged to spend most of my day with these guys and I was so honored. We did some band shots before sunset behind The Belly Up Tavern in Solana Beach which I can't wait to post. Then I got to spend the next few hours in the green room listen to these guys just mess around and see LOADS of musical talent pour out of these guys. You'll be inspired and discouraged all in one breath but it's fantastic to witness. Then we ended the night with then rocking the house and putting on a fantastic show. What an awesome night!

Trouble In The Wind

Posted by Danny Avila on December 11, 2010

Web work? Yay! I got the pleasure to talk to Kyle today from the band Trouble In The Wind out of Carlsbad today. He was referred by a friend and we had a great exchange over e-mail and good conversation over the phone. I'm really looking forward to working with these guys and seeing what we can come up with! http://troubleinthewind.com/.

Johnson Family

Posted by Danny Avila on October 22, 2010

I had a great experience today. I had the honor of taking photos of a couple of friends and their family and I enjoyed ever second of it. We shot in a beautiful park in Carlsbad and they were all so natural and comfortable with the camera that it made my job so much easier. Awesome family, great experience and I can't wait to do it again!

Double Rainbow

Posted by Danny Avila on September 30, 2010

I was out in the water today at Tamarack having an amazing session with some fun waves and light showers. I love surfing in the rain! When I turn around and see not one but two rainbows in the sky. I was an amazing sight and even the picture I took doesn't do it justice but it was enough to make me get out and ditch the waves for a bit and take a few shots. Hope you like them!

Open For Business

Posted by Danny Avila on July 27, 2010

For the longest time people have approached me and asked when I could shot their family photos or random activity. I’ve always brushed it off and I’ve wanted to but in the back of my head I knew I didn’t want to “Just yet”, because I’ve wanted to develop my portfolio and hone in my craft. It is that time and for the past 7 months I’ve spent HOURS behind the lens of my camera and computer screen. All that time and effort (I’m happy to say) has paid off and I’m not as oblivious as I was before and I’ve grown confident in my ability to capture the world through my lens and my eyes. So, of you need a photographer please go to the Contact page and send me a message and we can setup your next shoot!

Photography

Jaunary 3rd 2010 I was sitting at my friends house after a Charger game and for no reason I got it in my head that I needed to go shoot the sunset. Even on the way there, I was blown away by the view. I showed to the beach and with the colors, the low-tide and the refection. I was blown away. That day kicked me into a frenzy of shooting pictures as you can see from my gallery. I'm not sure where I'm going with all this but for now I'm enjoying the journey and thankful to be able to share the beauty of my home and the places around it.

The Mikey Show 9.49 FM

Posted by Danny Avila on January 12, 2010

It was announced today that The Mikey Morning Show's Mikey has a new home, 9.49 FM! With that now solidified and a start date in the near future. I have a feeling I'll be spending a lot of my free time developing a new site full of new content for the next generation of P1s to hit San Diego. This is a very exciting time. I can not wait to see what happens.
